As their names imply, the honeyguide bird and the honey badger both share an affinity for honey. Honeyguide birds specialize in finding beehives but struggle to access the honey within. Honey badgers are well-equipped to raid beehives but cannot always find them. However, these two honey-loving species have learned to collaborate on an effective means to meet their objectives. When nurses take the requisite leadership in becoming involved throughout the healthcare system, these partnerships can better design and deliver highly effective programs that meet objectives.
In this Assignment, you will practice this type of leadership by advocating for a healthcare program. Equally as important, you will advocate for a collaborative role of the nurse in the design and implementation of this program. To do this, assume you are preparing to be interviewed by a professional organization/publication regarding your thoughts on the role of the nurse in the design and implementation of new healthcare programs.

This paper presents an interview response regarding a proposed advocacy healthcare program that would advocate for nurses’ collaborative role with other professionals in implementing the program.
Proposed Healthcare Program Estimated Costs and Projected Outcomes
With an increasing focus on valued care, there is an increasing need to develop integrative and practical remote monitoring systems for chronically ill patients. The proposed program uses a remote monitoring system to improve home-based care for chronically ill patients. With chronically ill patients demanding effective and quality care, measures can be adopted to prevent emergency hospital visits while giving them the best quality of life around their loved ones. The projected outcome for the project includes a reduced number of emergency visits, reduced cost of care for the patient, and reduced admissions for chronically ill patients.
According to Griffin & CCM (2017), chronically ill patients may not always need hospitalization when their follow-up check-ups can be managed or monitored remotely, especially in the current pandemic; they are better off at home. With an already existing healthcare system, the estimated cost would be 9,000$, which will be used to buy and distribute wearable devices and integrate them into the hospital’s electronic medical record system for accessible patient profile building.
Target Population
The primary target population is chronically ill patients. Chronically ill patients present special needs population, and coordinated care with physicians, family, and the nurses effectively provides quality care and life (Yousefi et al., 2019). By adopting technology, the clinicians will help monitor and educate the patients on their medical conditions, helping them with self-care. Adopting the proposed project will make it easy for patients to follow and inquire about their health needs while actively participating in the care process. Not only does this approach save on cost, but it also draws on all stakeholders to contribute to the patients’ wellbeing. These include the hospital, family, insurers, nurses, physicians, and other medical professionals.
Role of Nurse in Providing Input for the Design of the Proposed Healthcare Program
Already recognized as the primary caregiver, their presence in the program design is vital to its success. Nurses will be the first respondents to patients’ calls and other indicators of when patients need a physical nurse or physician presence. They will also play a critical role in gathering and identifying clinical patients who need to be provided with wearable monitors. This is because they know and understand the patients’ personalized needs. Their input will help identify the type of wearable needed for patients according to their medical records. For example, nurses will actively visit chronically ill patients and evaluate the wearable required by each.

My Role as an Advocate for Chronically Ill Target Population for This Healthcare Program, Contribution & Impact on Design Process
As advocate doe chronically ill patients, better, quality and accessible care for a quality life is the primary focus. My input as the advocate for this population is to ensure family and patient preferences are sound factors in the program’s design. Additionally, I would ensure patient privacy is observed and aligns with HIPAA directives. Finally, I would foster an integrative work environment for nurses, physicians and family members as sometimes the chronically ill might pose challenging to handle. In terms of influencing the design of the proposed program, it is to ensure the incoming program befits both home- and hospital-based patients.
Role of Nurse in Program Implementation & How This Role Varies Between Design and Implementation of Healthcare Programs
Nurses remain indispensable in the entire program design and implementation stages, as they provide a critical link between application, patient experience and care delivery (Hämel et al., 2022). Regarding the proposed program, they (nurses) will ensure perfect coordination between the hospital organization and the home-based patients. They also are critical in monitoring the overall running of the program, monitoring the activities to ensure patients’ calls are responded to and need to be addressed accordingly. Finally, nurses in the implementation role will adopt and put the program into practice identified challenges and subsequently relay the same to relevant experts to ensure smooth functioning of the wearable technologies. The roles, however, vary between the design and implementation stages of the program. While designing nurses, input is aligned with the required tools to ensure the program is up and running effectively, while in implementation, there is active monitoring of patient records and responding to indicators relayed by the wearable technologies adopted (Brief 4: Evaluating Policy Implementation).
Members of the Healthcare Team Needed To Implement the Program
Effective program design and implementation are directly dependent on the collective input of the different stakeholders, including leaders, managers, healthcare professionals, nurses and nurse informaticists (Sacristán & Dilla, 2015). Regarding the proposed chronic patient remote monitoring program, the team will comprise nurses, nurse informatics, department and organization leaders & managers and family members. All of the mentioned members will play a vital role in the care program and coordination to ensure the chronically ill patient gets the best optimal care enjoys the best possible and quality of life.
